ON MY MEMORABLE 18th BIRTHDAY 💥💖

Here I come

 Okay... let's start  this story..😎

                         I was born 19th of June 2000. I have four siblings. They are two brothers and two sisters. The two sisters are twins. This story is something related to my little brother. His name is Thisandu Jithen Gunarathna. 

                       That was day 18th of June 2018. That day suddenly my mother was hospitalized. Then I had gone to tuition class. When I got home my mother was not home but I was not scared. Because she went to work and came back in the evening. But after while, my dad told me, " My daughter, Mom was hospitalized." I felt an indescribable joy. Wait a minute... you guys think that's why I was so happy???  How could I not be really happy... Even then my mom was holding my little brother in her womb. I knew it was only a matter of time before my brother deliver. I still have no words to describe that feeling. I am elder sister of four siblings. It was a big responsibility. I felt good about it the day of my mom hospitalized. 

                       The next morning ( 19th of June 2018), I was getting ready to go to school. As my father said, I can also go to see my mother in the morning. My father and I rode our scooter to the hospital in the morning. After I went to my mother, my mom hugged and wished me a happy birthday. Then my mother told me, "This birthday I will give you a birthday present the most precious gift you will never forget." (Yes guys, that was my 18th birthday) I said " oh my god mom!!! what is it? I'm pretty surprised..." My mother said "  But I give it a little afternoon. Now you can go to the school and enjoy your day." 

                         Then my father dropped me off at school. When I came out of school, my dad was standing near the school gate shaking hand. I was surprised because usually I went home by bus. But today dad was arrived. I went to dad and got in the scooter. Dad went to the hospital. I went to walk behind him. We had come to a different area then the previous mother's area. 

                           The cries of newborns cold be heard endlessly. In the distance my grandma was also visible. When we got there I saw my little brother like a little panda in my mom's arms. My mom said, " This is your birthday gift😍. Would you like to your birthday gift???" I said, " Oh mom!! Thank you so much... This is the best birthday present I have ever received..."  So.. this is my memorable 18th birthday story💥

                          It was an indescribable pleasure that I really felt. He made me a kind of mother. He still addresses me as "Mom".  I was also anxious to take care of him. I don't know, put him down and I work on the university and how to get Colombo. I'm really sorry to be separated from him. He is very cute, enjoyable and lovely little boy. 

                           I miss you so much my cutie💞

Agriculture in Our village🍀 Episode 2 : My father's Tea nursery

 

                  Tea nursery is a very difficult task and it should be done very consciously. The main task here is to prepare the background for the tea plant to grow. Climate is the main one and My village has a good climate for growing tea plants.

        First, a plain area should be selected for this purpose. Then small polythene bags are filled with soil recommended for tea plants. Soil-filled polythene should be placed in rows on the prepared ground. Another important part of the tea plant-making process is choosing the leaves that will be used for the plants. Here the branches should be cut from well-grown tea bushes. 

          And the next step is very special. The selected branches should be cut into small sections suitable for planting and those small pieces should be stored in polythene bags. After planting all the plants, cover the nursery well with polythene as shown in this picture and leave it like this for forty-five days.

           There is another special point I should mention here. That is, all the work is done by the Tamils workers until the nursery is sealed with polythene.    

               I see the reason for this is that the Tamil people in particular are very good at the tea industry and the Sinhalese people still believe that they are working more effectively in those areas. Of course it is more accurate because they do it very well.

          Also during this time, I was able to interact very well with the Tamil people and associate with them. They are very kind and humble people. But sometimes they do not know how to use the goods properly. So a lot of the time I have seen the waste of raw materials to use in tea cultivation as well. That's a bad thing, but a lot of the work in the tea nursery is done according to their culture.

               We also grow seedlings very well using fertilizers recommended for tea nurseries. Also, more water is applied.

          My contribution to the nursery is by watering the plants and removing the weeds that have grown around it. Also, the tea fruits growing on the tea plants should be broken down and removed because they interfere with the successful growth of tea plants. 

             Tea cultivation is a very tedious process but it is very interesting. Also, Sri Lankan tea has high demand in many parts of the world. So I think it would be great if you could get involved in this industry and it will be a different experience for you.😍

Agriculture in Our village🍀 Episode 1: My father's cabbage plantation

                          My father is a very talented farmer and his ability, dedication and talent are still amazing. When talking about growing cabbage, we must first talk about the process of planting cabbage seedlings.

               So I thought I'd explain that first. To do this, we must first prepare the nursery to a standard for planting cabbage seeds. Then the selected fertile seeds should be planted there. It should be kept in the nursery for three weeks. The land required for cultivation should be prepared during the growing season of the seeds in the nursery. 

     After three weeks, well-grown mature cabbage seedlings can be obtained from the nursery. And one more thing to mention, that all seven members of my family, including myself, are contributing to this. I think that will be a great strength for our father. And I am very happy to be working with everyone. Now the mature cabbage seeds obtained from this nursery should be planted in the prepared ground.

                                                                                                                                                                                             Seedlings should be lovingly cared for after planting. Watering, fertilizing, and weeding should be done as required. I am often involved in watering and weeding. And we all help Dad whenever we can. At that time I knew this was well successful teamwork. I also have respect for the villagers who come to our aid. My father also gave them job opportunities. I must say again that I have very high respect for my father.

              Cabbage plants that are well fertilized and watered, grow well after about a month. Then comes the time of harvesting cabbage. Of course, those plants are very beautiful. I do not like to reap that harvest😔. Because that cultivation is so successful and beautiful😍. And I think the secret of those beautifully growing plants is the unity of our family. Then we  market the harvest at a very stable and reasonable.

                       Truly cultivation is a very tedious task. They work day and night for the food of all of you. These are just a few of them.

One Evening and I 👀

         

     One day, the sun goes down trough the mountains. That time, I was running on the thorn bushes. In this way I reached our paddy field. Our paddy field is big field. Suddenly I saw my father sprayed the plants. After that I went and sat on the balk. 

    As I was looking around, I saw people planting beans in the field. At the same time, I felt healing freshly from the back paddy. Suddenly I thought "Oh!!!😲That's my favorite corn, right??? I remembered, that was my grandfather's plantation."  I got up quickly and ran to grandfather's  field. I joined crowed picking corn.

           After a while, some farmers went down to the canal to wash their shovels. My father was seen going there too. I got a permission form my grandfather, for towards the canal. when I was going to the canal, there were only my father and other three farmers. 

           Then I went down to the canal and washed my hands and feet. For a moment I began to think, "Will I feel this cool, fresh scent, light in a city?? How do I deal with going to a big city for learning??" Of course, it will be a grate challenge for me but I decided to face it for my future.

          My father called me about going home. I took a short step behind my father.❤
